Stained Glass Windows

These windows provide a beautiful piece of art right on your home. When the light shines through them, warm glows and intricate patterns are created in the interior of your home.

If you’re building a new home or replacing the windows in your current home, consider installing a stained glass window as an accent piece. Stained glass makes a great piece of art for your home whether it’s used in a door or window. A stained glass window or door is a one of a kind statement for your home that sets it apart from others around it.

It’s easier and less expensive than you might think to put in a stained glass window. There are many stained glass companies that can create a one of a kind or stock stained glass window for your home. They can often work from a sketch you provide them of a pattern or customize one of their standard patterns to meet your needs. In most cases, all you’ll have to provide them is the dimensions of your window or a cardboard template of the window. Your color choices are limitless, since the windows are custom created. Ask your stained glass artist to show you some samples of past work to help you get an idea of the kind of stained glass window pattern you want.

In addition to determining the pattern and colors of your stained glass window, you’ll also have to choose camming for your window. Came lines are the lines/channels that hold your window together. You can choose black came, also known as Tiffany construction, lead came or brass came. Tiffany construction is by far the most popular type, but the other types of camming can be beautiful too. Tiffany construction allows for sleeker lines and more detailed patterns than lead or brass. Brass camming gives a shiny brass finish and lead camming gives a dark finish. Again, it’s wise to view examples of all three types of camming as created by your chosen stained glass artist in order to determine which style will best suit your design.

The uses for stained glass windows are nearly infinite. Consider them for any area of your home that you want to show off. Small, specially crafted windows near the roofline are especially beautiful because they draw the eye upward. A stained glass window is also a great option for any window where you need privacy. With a stained glass window, no window treatments are required.

You’ll not find a more beautiful window accent than a stained glass window. Be sure to include one in your next window project.
